Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head - 26th March 2021

In this issue: Updated admissions arrangements, next delivery of COVID kits, and Year 11/13 assessments begin

Dear all,

It's been a very busy week, so this will be a rather brief update. This is the time of year when school's recruit for the next academic year, and I've spent most of my time speaking to potential applicants. I'm pleased to report that we've been inundated with applications from staff who are very keen to work at Holmleigh Park, and all of the staff I've shown round have been extremely impressed by how hard your children are working.

Special mention must go to Year 11 and 13 who began their first assessment window today. This is their first of three periods during which they'll be able to show their teachers what progress they've made, and despite the relative uncertainty (exam boards still haven't released their full guidance!), I've been hugely impressed by how both year groups are taking their in school assessments so seriously. We're expecting comprehensive guidance from the exam boards in the next week or so, at which point I'll be writing to Year 11/13 parents with an update.

A big thank you to to all of you who have been reporting your child's COVID test each week. It is hugely appreciated. We will be issuing further kits - which will cover the first three weeks of the summer term - next week.

Speaking of next term, please can I remind parents that we break up on Thursday 1st April next week as Friday is a bank holiday. We return on Monday 19th April - please remember that there is no longer an INSET day on Monday as we swapped this with the additional INSET day schools were asked to take in December.

Finally, I'm required to let parents know that the Greenshaw Learning Trust has consulted on admissions arrangement for Holmleigh Park in 2022/23, and that if you would like to view the determined arrangements, you can find these here.

With best wishes,

Mr Farmbrough
