Attendance is hugely important. Even an attendance of 95%, which sounds impressive, means that students miss ten days of school a year - or two full weeks. The graph below shows this.
One of the absolute best ways to do well in your GCSEs is to maintain a good attendance - every year, in every school, there is a clear link between students with the best attendance and students with the best exam results.
Parents should report any absences by calling the school in the morning.
Longer absences for non-medical reasons will only be considered in exceptional circumstances; parents should fill out the below form in advance. Authorisation will only be given in exceptional circumstances.
