Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head - Tuesday 25th July 2023

In this issue: Sports Day, Winning House Rewards Day and key information ahead of September

Dear HP families,

Despite the rain, we had an excellent Sports Day yesterday with a wide range of HP students taking responsibility and competing for house points in a range of different events. We are grateful to our PE department for their adaptability to change plans at late notice due to the weather but still put on such a meaningful day. The results ended with Meteor being the 2023 Sports Day champions.

This meant that this morning we were able to announce our winning house, which was Javelin with an incredible 4167 house points earnt across the year. Javelin students have today been able to take part in a fantastic funfair extravaganza which has been a well-earnt and exciting end of the year for them. I look forward to the relaunch of our house competition in September.

I hope all of our families enjoy a wonderful summer, but I also want to take the opportunity to give the following key pieces of information ahead of September:

1. Returning to School

Students return to school on Wednesday 6th September. Year 7 and 12 should arrive for 08:30. All other students should arrive at 11:15, coming in through the bottom playground as normal.

2. Timetables for Next Year

Next year's timetable will be available to view on MCAS by the start of September. We will also be issuing students with paper copies when they return in September.

3. Uniform and Equipment

As always, we're very keen to ensure students have a smooth start to the academic year. Please can I ask for your support by making sure your child's uniform is correct. In particular, please can I remind families of two particular things:

First, that trousers should be a sufficient length (down to the shoe, with black socks).

Second, the only facial piercings that can be worn are a single pair of plain silver or gold studs in the earlobe. If your child is planning on getting any additional piercings over the summer, please ensure they do so at the start of the holiday, so the piercing can be easily removed by September!

Mr Farmbrough will write to you at the end of August with a summary of the GCSE and A Level Result Days, as well as a final farewell from him.

Many thanks for all of your support towards HP this year,

Mr Hudson
