Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head - Friday 13th October 2023

In this issue: The first HP Families’ Focus Group, finding out what your children are learning and this week’s Ofsted inspection

Dear all,

On Wednesday, some of our students went to RAF St Athan in South Wales to fly. The students all got the chance to fly a tutor propeller plane accompanied by an RAF pilot. They were able to control the plane doing loop-the-loops, barrel rolls and pulling G-Force's down; an incredible opportunity.

This morning we had our first HP Families’ Focus Group, looking at how to further strengthen the home - school communication links. I am very grateful to the parents and carers who joined us this morning and I would love to have even more of you joining us in a future Families’ Focus Group session. The conversation was extremely helpful and I will now reflect on the next steps before explaining to you all the future communication developments we are going to make.

In the recent Families’ Survey, the question that received the fewest positive responses was “HP makes me aware of what my child will learn during the year.” I would like to draw everyone’s attention to the Curriculum page of our website. Through that page you can access the curriculum overview documents for every subject, divided into each year group. These documents will tell you the topics that are being taught across the year.

Finally, we have come to the end of an incredibly busy but very productive week with the Ofsted inspection team that visited us on Wednesday and Thursday. It has been a genuine pleasure to see our amazing students and staff showing our visitors what a special school Holmleigh Park is. The feedback from the Ofsted inspection team will help propel us even further ahead on our journey and I am very excited to be able to share the report with in a few weeks time.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Mr Hudson
Headteacher
