Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head - Friday 26th April

In this issue: Our latest Ten Tors practice expedition and the launch of our new PE microsite

Dear all,

Last weekend our three Ten Tors students took part in their latest practice expedition. They were absolutely fantastic and represented both Holmleigh Park and the Greenshaw Learning Trust fantastically. Our three students were up and ready to go first out of everybody on both days; always ready and waiting to get started. They made a hybrid team with some students from Yate Academy and they worked really well as a team. Out of all the teams, our students had the strongest bond, made the least errors and walked the furthest. They even did an extra bonus tor on the last day just for the enjoyment of doing so. Whenever they were observed between the tors, they were always supporting each other and happy. All the other teachers from all the other schools commented on how impressed they were with our team, because they were really focussed and got on with everything they needed to do without any prompting from any of the adults.

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new sporting fixtures microsite, solely for accessing all Holmleigh Park PE fixtures, team sheets, sports calendar and extra-curricular sporting notices. This website can be accessed by both students, staff and parents/guardians and will keep everyone informed about what school fixtures are taking place, where and when, from any device connected to the internet. You can access this website directly using your login details at the following link, or from the school website homepage: https://sport.hphigh.co.uk/. If you need any support with accessing your account, please see this webpage.

There is also an important reminder to give about PE kit expectations. All PE groups from Year 7 to 11 must wear their HP socks for their PE lessons, which includes both core PE and Games. This includes times when they choose to wear their HP tracksuit bottoms. White socks and ankle high ‘trainer socks’ are not permitted. Thank you for your ongoing and constant support with maintaining our expectations.

A big well done to lots of our Year 11 students who started taking part in French speaking, Art or Photography exams this week. Additionally, we have had the HP house quiz competition this week. There were daily rounds for Years 7-10 on Monday to Thursday with the final taking place today. I look forward to the winners being announced in due course, but I am informed that the standard throughout the week was extremely high.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Mr Hudson
