Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head - Friday 15th December 2023

In this issue: The Big Ambition survey, accessing behaviour data on MCAS and how proud our staff are to work at HP.

Dear all,

It’s the end of another busy HP week, with us having enjoyed house sport matches, KS3 Christmas discos and our Year 11 Parents Evening last night.

There is an important survey that is being circulated to all of England’s children and their families. Rachel de Souza, the Children’s Commissioner for England, has launched The Big Ambition, so that she hear from all children and young people in England aged between 6 and 18 years old. Adults can answer on behalf of a child or young person aged 0 to 18 years old. The Children’s Commissioner will use this survey to take children and young people’s views to the Government. Children and parents can complete the survey here: www.childrenscommissioner.gov.uk/thebigambition

I would like to clarify the process of you receiving the updated information following an initial text if your child is set a detention. The initial text states that you will receive an update after 2pm. To receive the update, you need to log into the MCAS app and select the Behaviour menu tab. The necessary information automatically updates into the Behaviour screen at 2pm each day. If you have any questions about this process, please contact our Deputy Headteacher for Pastoral, Mr O’Gallagher.

Our staff recently completed a survey to give feedback on different aspects of working at Holmleigh Park. One question that all staff were asked was what they were most proud of when it came to being a member of the HP community. I wanted to share some of the comments with you, because within the survey it shone through how much it means to our staff to work with and help develop your children every day:

  • “Our aspirational culture: we're a school which aspires for our students to be the best they can be.”
  • “We have disruption free learning that gives every student the opportunity to achieve.”
  • “The school has an atmosphere of forward movement and constant development.”
  • “The calm purposeful atmosphere as I walk around the school.”
  • “Our commitment to doing better, prioritising ways that have the most positive impact for students.”
  • “That there is a real sense of community among staff and students.”
  • “The high expectations for students, shown through excellent behaviour and uninterrupted teaching.”
  • “Staff at HP genuinely care and want the best for our students. Everyone goes above and beyond to make sure our students get the best deal.”

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Mr Hudson
