Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head - Friday 12th January

In this issue: Attendance increases, making every day count and our first trips of 2024

Dear all,

It has been fantastic to welcome all of our students back to Holmleigh Park this week after the Christmas break. Attendance has been significantly increased, and I look forward to us all working collectively to maintain this higher standard as the weeks progress across the Spring term.

The Spring term dates this year are much shorter than the Autumn term, with there now being only nine school weeks until the Easter holidays. Our message, as a staff team, this week has been about making sure we make every day count. This is something that I believe we do very well at Holmleigh Park anyway - our students and staff work hard with real purpose and drive - but over the next few weeks this is only going to be even more important, especially for our examination year groups. We want to give them the very best chance of success this summer, so that they can both fulfil their academic potential and give themselves the chance to move on to the range of ambitious destinations that they are aiming for.

We have had two exciting trips this week. Dr Brown and Mr Dewfall took our Warhammer Club to Warhammer World. This is a popular and well attended extracurricular club at HP and our students were able to see and take part in a range of exhibitions and activities. Today, Mr Lord took a group of Sixth Form students to the Unlocking Cyber Careers Event at the University of the West of England in Bristol. Various industry partners came together for the day to provide a wide range of cybersecurity related activities in which the students participated.

Over the upcoming half-term we have some exciting and new initiatives to launch, including the inaugural HP Activities Week in July and our after-school Academic Preparation sessions. I look forward to writing to you over the next couple of weeks explaining more about these.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Mr Hudson
