Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head - Friday 12th April

In this issue: HP’s inaugural ski trip and the initial launch of a Families’ Frequently Asked Questions website

Dear all,

Over the Easter break, 51 students and 5 members of staff went to the Italian Dolomites for an action-packed week of skiing in Civetta. Considering nearly all the students had never skied before, the progress that was made throughout the week was exceptional. With four hours of strenuous skiing lessons each day, the group enjoyed opportunities to refuel with plenty of Italian pizza and pasta in the mountainside restaurant and back at the hotel in the evenings. Evening entertainment ranged from bingo, quizzes, night walks up the mountain and not forgetting music from hotel staff Alessio and Lorenzo made sure there was never a dull moment throughout the week. Along with the progress made on the slopes, regular praise from our ski instructors, hotel staff and members of the public made us proud of how the group conducted themselves whilst away. Despite one or two bumps and bruises as souvenirs from the slopes, we hope they all return with memories to last a lifetime and an appetite for more skiing in the future. A huge thank you to the staff involved in planning and leading the trip; Mr Foster, Ms Myers, Mr Pearce, Mr Lord and Mrs Barrett.

Over the past few months, we have been working through feedback from parents about how we can further improve home-school communication. The first step of this is our initial launch of a Frequently Asked Questions webpage for parents. We have surveyed our staff about the questions which they are most commonly asked and have put the answers in one central place. We are intending for this to therefore be the first place that a parent would look to if you have a question. Being able to find an answer in this way is likely to be faster than emailing a member of staff who may be teaching all day. It would be incredibly helpful if you would read through the Frequently Asked Questions webpage and then use the Google Form link below to give us any feedback about information which may be missing.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Mr Hudson
