Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head - 17th March 2023

In this issue: An important update regarding Edulink and school IT

Dear all,

We've had a good week at HP - though I appreciate it has been a disrupted week for many of you. I'd like to start by thanking you for your patience and understanding throughout the industrial action. I know many of you have been inconvenienced, but the staff and I have really appreciated your ongoing support. I remain hopeful that a deal will soon be reached which satisfies staff, schools and the government.

I also want to update you on a significant change to our IT systems. Over the Easter holidays, we will be moving our MIS (Management Information System) to a new provider, Bromcom. As many of you will be aware, we have had some ongoing issues over the past few years with our current provider, and I hope that this move will allow us to improve in a great many areas, including making more information easily accessible to parents.

Over the next few months, this some of our processes will be changing. In particular, I want to draw your attention to the fact that Edulink will no longer function from Friday 31st March. We will be taking many of our existing systems offline on this day, ready for the new MIS to come online when students return on Tuesday 18th April.

We will send sign-up information out as soon as the new system is up and running, but in the meantime, if you would normally contact the school through Edulink, please could I ask you to do this via email. You can find an up to date list of email addresses here

In time, we will look to move more systems onto Bromcom, meaning you will have access to more information in one place, and we will keep you updated.

Finally, please can I remind you of a few upcoming dates.

On Thursday next week, we have Year 10 Parents Evening, from 17:00-19:00. Some of our musicians will also be performing at Gloucester Cathedral in the G15 celebration event.

Can I also draw Year 11 parents' attention to the results and information evening on Thursday 30th March. Students will be able to collect their mock results from 17:00, and Mr Hogarth will then be giving a short presentation on how to support students in the final months of their GCSEs.

Finally, looking ahead, I'm pleased to be able to confirm that our Year 9 Boys' Rugby Team will be competing in the EDF Plate Final at Kingsholm on the 28th April at 16:00 - the perfect start to a weekend! We'll be sharing further details in due course!

Best wishes,

Mr Farmbrough
