Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head - 16th June 2023

In this issue: District Rounders Success, and next year's Ski Trip!

Dear all,

I want to start by, once again, acknowledging Year 11 and 13 - many of whom have now finished their exams, with just a few papers left last week. They have been absolutely superb this week, remaining upbeat, focused and diligent - despite the heat!

Speaking of the heat, a huge well done to students for battling through. It is not easy in such humid weather, but they have been brilliant. We will continue with no blazers required next week.

Also well done to our DofE students who braved the elements last weekend, contending with both blistering heat and torrential downpours. They were superb and although we had to shorten the Bronze expedition to ensure everyone could be kept safe during the thunderstorms, they all had a very valuable training experience with at least one camp. I'm sure they'll do brilliantly in their assessed expedition in a couple of weeks!

It's been a busy week in school too, with numerous Geography Field Trips, and our Art and Photography Exhibition. As always, I was hugely impressed by the creativity of the students (not to mention very jealous of their skill!).

And on the sports fields, huge congratulations must go to our Year 8 Girls Rounders Team, who were crowned district champions this week. A huge achievement so well done to them all.

Last but not least, I'm extremely excited to share that Holmleigh Park will be running a Ski Trip in the 2023-24 academic year. We'll be heading to Civetta in Italy, and places are available to current Year 7, 8 and 9 (i.e. next year's Year 8, 9 and 10). Sign ups are now live - parents should check their emails for a letter from Mr Foster with further details.
