HP Families Weekly Bulletin - Friday 22nd May 2026
In this bulletin: We share an update on significant improvements in attendance and the ongoing focus on reducing persistent absence, alongside information about Term 6 uniform expectations and a new weekly Year 10 bulletin to support preparation for mock examinations.
Dear HP families,
Three years ago, our Whole School Attendance at May half term was around 86%. This year, for the first time ever at HP, it is above 89%. This is pleasing and reflects the significant improvement in attendance culture we have built across HP, alongside the emphasis we place on student experience through trips and enrichment opportunities. Wednesdays remain our highest attending day this academic year, which reflects how strongly enrichment is valued and enjoyed by students. However, as a community we must continue to recognise that not all students attend regularly enough. Being in HP consistently matters, and whilst occasional absence due to illness is unavoidable, reducing persistent absence remains a critical priority and will continue as a whole community focus next year.
We are currently planning to strengthen our summer transition processes, improve how we begin the academic year in September, and increase the volume of positive communication and feedback we share with families about students. These developments are intended to support further improvement and help move towards the national secondary attendance average of 92%.
Term 6 Uniform
For the duration of Term 6, blazers and jumpers will be optional every day. Students must have shirts tucked in and ties worn during both lessons and lesson transitions. Students who are not wearing ties or have untucked shirts during lessons or transitions will receive a Prep in line with our normal expectations. Students may also wear plain black tailored knee length shorts with black socks and standard school shoes for the duration of Term 6.
Year 10 Bulletin
As we move towards the Year 10 mock examinations this summer, Mrs Adams, Head of Year 10 and Deputy Leader of KS4 Outcomes, will be sending a weekly bulletin to Year 10 families with key updates and information. We are developing our most comprehensive and high quality Year 10 mock examination programme to date to ensure students are fully prepared to begin Year 11 with confidence and momentum.
I wish you all a lovely Bank Holiday weekend in glorious sunshine,
Mr Hudson
