Dear HP families,

Update From The Headteacher, Mr Hudson

It has been an absolutely fantastic start to the Year 10 mock examination period. Attendance has been high, engagement has been excellent, and the early signs are very promising. We are also incredibly proud of our Year 11 and Year 13 students who are coming towards the end of a long examination season. They continue to work with resilience and determination and are representing themselves and HP exceptionally well. Keep going, your hard work will pay off when you open your results in August. Meanwhile, students in Years 7 to 9 are currently completing their Rank Order Assessments. These assessments not only prepare students for future examination experiences but also provide students, parents and staff with an accurate picture of academic progress over recent months.

Homework Change To Prep

To improve homework completion and ensure students receive the support they need, we will be adapting our system whereby incomplete Maths homework for all Year 7 to 11 students, incomplete English homework for Key Stage 3 students, and incomplete Seneca homework for Year 9 students will be completed during after school prep sessions running until 4:00pm. All online homework must be completed by 7:30am on the due date to avoid a prep being set. Students will be allowed to leave before 4:00pm once they have shown a member of staff on duty that they have completed their homework. This system will begin with Maths homework due on Wednesday 17th June, Seneca homework due on Thursday 18th June, and English homework due on Monday 23rd June. Please contact k.barrett@hphigh.co.uk with any questions.

Canteen Price Increase For September 2026

At HP, we are committed to providing students with fresh, nutritious and high quality meals that support their health and learning throughout the day. To maintain these standards, we need to make a small adjustment to meal prices from September 2026. Over the past year, the catering industry has faced significant challenges, with rising food, ingredient and delivery costs. Industry forecasts suggest food costs could increase by as much as 9% by the end of the year. To ensure that we do not have to compromise on portion sizes or the quality of ingredients we provide, the new pricing structure will be a Main Meal Deal at £3.25 and a Main Meal Only option at £2.70. We understand that any increase in household costs is a concern and have kept this adjustment as low as possible, averaging between 15p and 25p per meal. Our Meal Deal continues to provide excellent value and remains significantly cheaper than equivalent high street options. Students eligible for Free School Meals will not be affected by this change and will continue to receive their meal as usual. If you believe your circumstances have changed and that your child may now be eligible for support, please contact the Safeguarding team for advice. Thank you for your continued support of our catering service.

Student Newspaper

The fifth edition of our student newspaper has finally arrived and is now available to read on the HP website. It is packed with student writing, news and features from across HP. You can read it here: https://www.hphigh.co.uk/character-programme/student-newspaper

HP Summer Charity Week

Our annual Summer Charity Week will take place from Monday 29th June to Friday 3rd July and will raise money for our House charities: Treasure Seekers, Gloucestershire Bundles, The Willow Trust and The Pied Piper Appeal. Throughout the week we will be collecting donations for the Foodbank and Gloucestershire Bundles in Main Reception. On Monday there will be a craft sale outside Art 1 at breaktime. Tuesday will feature a basketball shootout in the Sports Hall at lunchtime with a 50p entry fee and prizes to be won. On Wednesday students can take part in Soak the Teacher at lunchtime on the bottom playground for 50p per throw or £1 for three throws. Thursday will see our Just Danceathon in the Sports Hall at lunchtime with a 50p entry fee. On Friday there will be a cake sale with a Glorious Gardens theme, with cakes to be dropped off in Art 1 before line up, alongside a tombola in the Sports Hall at lunchtime with tickets costing 50p each. We look forward to another fantastic week of fundraising and community spirit.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Mr Hudson
