Holmleigh Park High School

21st June 2019

Dear Parents / Guardians

The weeks seem to be flying past and it has been another positive one here at Holmleigh Park High School. The Year 11 and Year 13 students have now finished their exams. We were extremely pleased with how they conducted themselves throughout the exam season, and would like to wish them all the very best for results day in the summer.

We have welcomed back some more adventurers, this time from Paris. A big thanks to the staff for supporting trips like these, they provide such great opportunities for children and it is something I hope to see more and more of as we continue to work together.

Behaviour is rapidly improving at our school. This week we have seen a significant reduction in both exclusion and referrals to the OSP. In fact, we have gone from having four isolation rooms at the start of term, down to needing just one. What this means is that the vast majority of students here are getting it absolutely right, all of the time. We have extremely high expectations and so that is a real success story. If you would like to come and test our theory of ‘every second, of every minute, of every lesson, of every day, disruption free’, then please do call in unannounced for a visit and we would be delighted to show you around.

Teaching is also improving. We have had a number of visitors from other Greenshaw schools and from the Trust Central Support Team in school over the last few weeks, and they, along with the HP Senior Team, have been visiting numerous lessons as part of our DDI programme. This is our way of ensuring rapid improvements in teaching, as staff receive regular feedback and actionable steps to improve. Your children deserve exceptional teaching and we are committed to ensuring that they get it.

Finally, we will be holding our first Fun Friday today, because school needs to be fun too! This week sees students taking part in a cracker eating competition! We will be holding regular events over the next few weeks and will keep you informed, and amused hopefully, with lots of coverage on our Facebook page.

With warm regards

Ben Parnell
