Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head, 8th November 2019

Dear all,

We have enjoyed a very positive start to the term so far.

I am very pleased to tell you that our catering is now managed by Greenshaw Learning Trust, and the initial feedback from pupils has been very positive; the general consensus is that our food is better quality and cheaper than before. I’m also delighted to report that we have slashed our non-recyclable waste; the vast majority of our packaging is now biodegradable or recyclable. I also hope this will mark the end of the problems we experienced last term with our canteen, and would like to thank you for your patience with these issues. Please can I remind you that, as my previous letters have mentioned, we no longer have facilities for students to top up with money in school. If you haven’t yet activated your parent pay account, or need help setting it up, please contact [email protected].

This week has been a busy one for sport, with Year 7 and Year 8 taking on Five Acres in rugby and netball. 3 wins out of 4 puts us at the top of the Greenshaw Learning Trust leaderboard, and bodes very well for the intra-trust sports day later this year. We had good results in cross-country too, with two students being selected to represent their county. Finally, we were delighted to reveal details of our Year 7 carol concert, where students from the five Greenshaw schools will come together, at Gloucester Cathedral. I hope to see as many Year 7 parents as possible there – you can book at Eventbrite

Year 11 have a big week ahead, with their first set of mock exams beginning on Monday. I continue to be inspired by how hard they are working, and I’m confident these exams will be a real confidence boost for them, and will give our staff invaluable information on their progress.

Finally, if your child cycles to school, please could I ask for your support in ensuring they wear a helmet, and in particular, that they have bike lights as it begins to get dark earlier. Please can I also remind you that bikes must be locked up and placed in our bike storage area.

Best wishes,

Mr Farmbrough
