Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head, 18th October 2019

Dear all,

It has been an outstanding week at Holmleigh Park. Lessons have been really buzzing, with impeccable behaviour around the building. I've welcomed a number of visitors to the Academy, all of whom have been unable to believe the transformation in the school since June 1st. The numbers of students completing homework has also continued to rise, with fewer students than ever before in detention each night. I can't thank you enough for your support as we continue on our journey.

You may be aware that the GCSE league tables came out this Thursday. The results for Beaufort were disappointing, but only underscore the importance of the changes we are making. One term in, I can say with complete confidence that our first results as Holmleigh Park will show a massive improvement: Year 11 and 13 both continue to put in exceptional amounts of hard work, and I can't wait to celebrate their results next year. If you are a Year 11 parent, I'd also like to remind you of their Parents' Evening this Thursday from 16:30.

I'm delighted to be able to report that results across other Greenshaw schools were exceptional this year. Henley Bank and Five Acres both made the top ten schools in Gloucestershire - only one other comprehensive school made the top ten, with grammar schools taking the over seven places. Yate Academy, in South Gloucestershire, received a progress score of +1.01, putting it second of all schools in the South West of England, coming top of Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and Bristol, and being ranked 41st out of over 6000 secondary schools in the country. Our journey at Holmleigh Park is very similar, and I can't wait to join our Greenshaw colleagues at the top of the tables.

Finally, please can I remind you to ensure you have registered and set up Parent Pay. From next half-term, students will no longer be able to top up their lunch money using cash - we are aiming to be completely online. If you haven't already received your account details, please email [email protected]

Best wishes,

Patrick Farmbrough
