Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head, 11th October 2019

Dear all,

It’s been another very busy week at Holmleigh Park.

Our Year 7 cohort were out on residential from Monday to Wednesday, and I couldn’t have been more proud of them. Despite some heavy rain, they threw themselves into caving, bridge building, canoeing, mountain biking and shelter building with great enthusiasm, and made new friends.  I particularly enjoyed visiting on the Tuesday evening – it was wonderful to see the students sitting round the camp fire, singing and enjoying each other’s company – all without a mobile phone in sight!

Back at school, we had a number of fixtures against Severn Vale, and some great results – team of the week has to go to Year 8 who notched up a 50-0 win against Barnwood and then followed it up two days later with a soggy 38-5 win against Severn Vale.

We also welcomed our Year 7 parents to meet with their tutors. It was great to see the event so well attended – but I apologise for the long waits this resulted in for some parents. We are looking into how we can address for our Year 11 Parents’ Evening on the 24th October.

Finally, today we held an intruder drill. Like a fire drill, it’s something we hope we never have to use in a real situation, but I was thoroughly impressed by the maturity our students showed in quietly and efficiently carrying out instructions.

Can I end by reminding you to register your email details here if you haven’t already, and to check your Free School Meals eligibility here.

With my best wishes for the weekend,

Patrick Farmbrough
