Holmleigh Park High School

Letter from the Head, 12th July 2019

12 July 2019

Dear Parents / Guardians

I am writing with my weekly update of events and successes at HP High.

Monday and Tuesday saw us holding our sixth form induction days. These were a roaring success and ended with a BBQ on the field on Tuesday afternoon. A massive thanks to all the staff who made this happen.

We are continuing with our Fun Friday events. Last Friday saw some hot competition in our Penalty Shoot Out. Well done to Southgate, who won with an impressive 16 Goals, Eastgate came a close second with 15 Goals, followed by Northgate with 13 and Westgate bringing up the rear with 7.

Tutor time reading continues, and most groups will have finished at least one high quality novel by the end of term. This is such a fantastic way of exposing children to brilliant literature and broadening their vocabulary. If you would like to see it in action any time, you are very welcome to visit the school for a tour. A member of staff would be delighted to show you around. We hold the tutor reading programme between 8.30 and 9.00am every day.

I am pleased to announce that we have far fewer children in detention this week, as students begin to get more used to the high expectations, and finally, I would like to send warm wishes to our Year 10 students, the majority of whom are on work experience this week. I hope you are all making the most of this valuable opportunity.

My last letter of the year will follow next week. As always, I would like to thank you all for your support in ensuring that HP High students have the best possible chance of success.

With warm regards

Ben Parnell

Interim Headteacher
