HP Families Weekly Bulletin - Friday 15th May 2026

In this bulletin: We celebrate the outstanding achievements of our Ten Tors students, recognise the excellent start made by Year 11 and Year 13 in their examinations, provide an update on proposed uniform changes and summer uniform arrangements, remind families of examination regulations relating to social media, and share information about a new drinks vending machine in the main building.

Dear HP families,

Ten Tors went exceptionally well last weekend. Harley and Josh successfully completed the 11 mile Jubilee Challenge route, while Gabi, Freddie and Mark completed the demanding 35 mile route and Thabo and Harley completed the 45 mile challenge. Completing Ten Tors requires outstanding resilience, teamwork, determination and physical endurance, and every student involved represented HP exceptionally well throughout the weekend. It was a tremendous achievement by all involved.

We have also had an excellent first week of Year 11 and Year 13 examinations. Exam invigilators have commented positively on how focussed, calm and hard working both cohorts have been throughout the examination process so far. Students have approached the start of the exam season with maturity and determination and we are very proud of the way they are conducting themselves.

School Uniform
From September, the Government is mandating that schools can only have three branded uniform items in order to minimise costs for families. We are proposing that our three main HP branded items will be an HP blazer, HP long sleeve PE top and HP short sleeve PE top. Thank you to all families who have provided feedback regarding these proposals. We will now review all feedback submitted and communicate the final uniform arrangements for September at the beginning of June.

Summer Uniform
Following the consultation, we have decided that boys may wear plain black tailored knee length shorts with black socks and standard school shoes [please see image below]. This arrangement will be trialled for the duration of Term 6 from Monday 1st June. If the trial is successful, we will incorporate the change into our uniform policy for 2026 to 2027. Girls will of course continue to have the option of wearing the HP skirt.

Examinations and Social Media
Exam candidates must not buy, ask for or share exam or assessment content online, pass on rumours about examinations, share their work, or work with others in a way that means assessments are not completed independently. Students who engage in any of these activities risk receiving a written warning, losing marks, being disqualified from part or all of their qualifications, or being banned from taking examinations for a number of years. All information for exam candidates can be found under Student Info on the examinations section of the HP website: HP Examinations Information. Please contact l.young@hphigh.co.uk with any questions.

Drinks Vending Machine
A new drinks vending machine has now been installed in the main building for use at break and lunchtime. This will allow students who only wish to purchase a drink to do so without needing to queue in the canteen. The drinks are exactly the same as those available in the canteen.

I wish you all a lovely weekend,

Mr Hudson
