HP Families Weekly Bulletin - Friday 1st May 2026
In this bulletin: we share details of Year 8 boys’ success at the GLT Football Tournament, provide an update on summer uniform expectations, and outline changes to KS3 Maths Sparx homework procedures.
Dear HP families,
Sporting Success GLT Football Tournament
The Year 8 boys were victorious at the GLT Football Tournament held at Blaise High School in Bristol on Tuesday, winning five of their seven matches and drawing two. Across the tournament the team scored eight goals and conceded only one, representing the school with real pride throughout. The boys attended this morning’s staff briefing to present the trophy and receive a well deserved round of applause from staff. The trophy is now proudly displayed in the school trophy cabinet. Well done also to the Year 7 and Year 9 teams who represented the school well and acquitted themselves positively across the competition. Thank you to Mr Addis, Mr Briscoe and Mr Thompson for their support of the teams.
Summer Uniform
Following adjustments made last year in response to Met Office weather warning thresholds, we will again be making appropriate adjustments to summer uniform arrangements as the term progresses. Further guidance will be shared with families shortly. In the meantime, it is essential that all students continue to wear their uniform correctly, with pride, and in line with school policy. Year 11 students have been reminded this week of the importance of maintaining high standards as the examination timetable begins next week. High expectations and consistency remain central to our culture and are particularly important at this stage of the year.
KS3 Maths Sparx Homework
Years 7, 8 and 9 have now returned to Sparx for weekly Maths homework, with a completion deadline of Friday at 9pm. Each student has been issued with a homework book to record their working, which should reflect the same standards expected in class and in assessments. These books will be checked by class teachers in the lesson following the deadline. Students are expected to complete 100 percent of the online questions. Where students are unsure, they should seek support from their Maths teacher during break or lunchtime before the deadline. Homework is set by class teachers and is tailored to the content being taught and the appropriate level for each set. It is expected to take approximately one hour, although this may vary slightly. Preps will be issued where work is incomplete or where written working has not been shown in homework books. These adjustments are intended to support stronger engagement and ensure greater learning value from the weekly tasks. Any questions should be directed to your child’s Maths teacher or Ms Stanton, Head of KS3 Maths, at s.stanton@hphigh.co.uk. Thank you for your continued support.
I wish you all a lovely Bank Holiday weekend,
Mr Hudson
