HP Families Weekly Bulletin - Friday 6th March 2025
In this bulletin: Mr Hudson provides an update on Year 10 writing and the success of the annual production whilst we also share information regarding the families survey, enrichment choices, Activities Week deposits, the launch of Meat Free Mondays, and instrumental music lessons.
Dear HP families,
Update From The Headteacher, Mr Hudson
It is crucial that all HP students can write fluently to communicate their thinking and ideas. This week, Year 10 students completed a series of Big Writes across English, Music, Geography, IT, Business, French, and Computer Science. These exercises build writing stamina and make the importance of independent progress visible to everyone. Mrs Adams, Head of Year 10, will be sharing examples of excellence with the year group shortly.
Meanwhile in Performing Arts, almost 100 students from Year 7 to Year 13 participated in the production held from Wednesday 25th to Friday 27th February. Students collaborated on acting, singing, dancing, and managing all backstage elements. We were proud to witness the confidence they displayed. Many students who had never performed before stood on stage in front of over 100 audience members each night and were a credit to themselves, their families, and HP. I would also like to thank the staff who assisted before and during the show, as well as the families who attended. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Families Survey The survey is now open and the link was shared yesterday via a separate email. The deadline for completion is Thursday 26th March. Your views are reflected upon as part of the annual planning process for the next academic year. As of 8:45am today we have received 110 responses, so please complete it if you have not yet done so.
Enrichment Next week, students will select their choices for the next enrichment rotation. Pupils in Years 7 through 10 have been asked to complete preference sheets before submitting their online forms. We encourage you to review the enrichment booklet with your child to discuss their preferred activities for next term. Please contact a.sharples@hphigh.co.uk with any questions.
Activities Week Thank you to everyone who has paid the deposit for July’s Activities Week. This is a reminder that the £10 deposit deadline is this weekend. Our aim is for every student to participate in their year group trip. We have four fantastic days planned and look forward to a memorable week for all students. Please contact a.sharples@hphigh.co.uk with any questions.
Meat Free Mondays Starting the first week after the Easter break, the Greenshaw Learning Trust will introduce Meat Free Mondays across all Trust schools. This initiative supports the commitment to the Let’s Go Zero campaign. By reducing meat consumption one day a week, GLT can lower the Trust's carbon footprint and promote sustainable eating habits among students and staff.
Music Opportunities If your child is interested in weekly instrumental or singing lessons, please visit the Gloucestershire Music website, click on School Direct Tuition, and complete the online form for the waiting list. Information regarding costs and instrument hire is available on the site. If your child is in Year 9 and considering BTEC Music, I highly recommend specialist lessons to support their progress. If HP receives pupil premium funding for your child, please indicate this on the form as lessons may be provided at no cost. For questions, contact Mrs Greenow at r.greenow@hphigh.co.uk or Gloucestershire Music at 01452 427242.
I wish you all a lovely weekend,
Mr Hudson
