Letter from the Head - Friday 16th January 2026
In this issue: Year 11 mock exams have gone very well with excellent attendance and focus, Year 13 students have received strong UCAS offers from top universities, our Enrichment Aspiring Lawyers club is representing HP in a national mock trial, and whole school attendance continues to improve.
Dear HP families,
The second week of Year 11 mock exams has been very pleasing. Attendance has been high and students have demonstrated excellent focus throughout the exam period. Our Exam Invigilators have commented several times on how impressed they have been with the Year 11 cohort during the mock window. It is clear that students are laying strong foundations for a successful exam season this summer. These mocks are an important step in helping students understand their strengths and areas for improvement, and the positive attitude we are seeing will help them achieve their potential.
In addition, we have received news of a range of very strong UCAS offers for our Year 13 students. Offers have been made from highly aspirational universities including Warwick, Edinburgh, Manchester, Exeter and Liverpool. It is fantastic to see our students being recognised for their hard work and ambition. We will continue to support all Year 13s in the run up to their next set of mock exams and the summer exams. Our goal is to ensure that every student can achieve the grades they need to take the next steps in their academic journey. It is inspiring to see such dedication from our students and to celebrate the opportunities that lie ahead for them.
We also wish our Enrichment Aspiring Lawyers club the very best as they travel to Birmingham Crown Court tomorrow to take part in a national mock trial. HP students having the chance to participate in a wide range of activities beyond the classroom is incredibly important. Opportunities such as this help to develop confidence, communication skills and a sense of responsibility. Representing HP in competitions and events also contributes to our culture and community, and we look forward to sharing with you next week how the students have got on.
Another very positive development this week is the continued improvement in whole school attendance. We have seen another year-on-year increase this week. Strong attendance remains a key factor in student success and the gains we are seeing reflect the close partnership between HP and families. Research consistently shows a direct link between students attending consistently and achieving better outcomes over their time with us. Maintaining and improving attendance in 2026 remains a priority and provides a solid platform for future progress.
I would like to thank families for their ongoing support in ensuring students attend consistently and are well-prepared for their studies and activities. The progress we are celebrating this week is a result of the combined effort of students, staff and families working together.
I wish you all a lovely weekend,
Mr Hudson
