Letter from the Head – Friday 11th July 2025
In this issue: A brilliant week of sport and trips, charity fundraising, earlier finish times next week and key September information for all year groups.
Dear HP families,
On Tuesday we held our HP Sports Day. It was a brilliant event with high levels of participation, strong performances and an excellent whole-school audience in the afternoon. Congratulations to this year’s overall winners, Javelin. A special mention goes to our school record breakers – Noah in Year 9, Promise in Year 8 and Scarlett in Year 7, whose performances stood out as exceptional.
We also had great success at this year’s GLT Sports Day held at the University of Bath. Our Key Stage 3 boys finished third overall, with some standout individual results. Toby B in Year 7 came third in the KS3 1500m and also achieved second place in the high jump. Lacey R was competing in the high jump for the first time and also secured second place. Max B impressed with a dominant first place in the 800m. Congratulations to everyone who represented HP so well.
More sporting success this week comes from rugby, where we are proud to share that Noah, Charlie and Isaac from Year 9 have been selected for Gloucester Rugby’s DPP programme. This is an impressive achievement and we look forward to seeing how they progress.
Away from sport, we have had a full programme of curriculum visits this week. Our A Level Geography students have been in Dorset and our A Level Biology and Environmental Science students have completed fieldwork in Devon. Year 10 students studying Enterprise and Catering visited London to support their wider curriculum understanding moving into Year 11. We continue to be grateful to staff for running these opportunities, which offer so much value to our students.
A highlight of the week was seeing Mr Lord complete a ten-hour charity cycle in aid of the Pied Piper appeal. This was inspired by two of our students currently undergoing cancer treatment and was a real example of the strength of our community. At the time of writing, over £1200 has been raised. If you wish to donate, the link remains open here.
Next week we move into our final week of term and into Activities Week. There will be a slightly earlier finish of 2:30pm Monday to Thursday. On Friday we will finish at 1:05pm as usual on the final day of term.
