Student Leadership

Nurturing student leadership is a significant component of our mission and dedication to our students. We hold great ambitions for our students and firmly believe that fostering their leadership skills contributes significantly to positively impacting our community and enhancing their opportunities in life.

At KS3 and KS4, students have the exciting opportunity to join our Student Council team, while in KS5, they can aspire to become exceptional House Captains.

STUDENT COUNCIL

At Holmleigh Park, we recognise the value of student voice. It is our utmost priority to ensure that every pupil relishes their school experience and feels that their voice holds significant worth. To achieve this, we have established a dedicated Student Council that will actively contribute to this endeavour.

The members of our Student Council have been elected by their fellow students, serving as the dedicated representatives of the student voice. With one representative for each house, totalling four members per year group, the council meets regularly to exchange ideas, devise strategies, and provide feedback, all aimed at enhancing the overall school experience for every student. Furthermore, they maintain a consistent line of communication with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), ensuring that feedback is shared and proposals are presented, fostering strong collaboration between staff and students.

HOUSE CAPTAINS

At our Sixth Form, students have the exciting opportunity to apply for the positions of House Captain and Vice House Captain. Working closely with the Head of Houses, the House Captains play a pivotal role in leading our house systems, creating opportunities for students to engage in various house competitions and proudly represent their respective houses.

Beyond fostering a vibrant house culture and a strong sense of belonging, House Captains also have their own distinct responsibilities. These encompass the following roles:

  • Captain of Culture

  • Captain of Sport

  • Captain of Community

  • Captain of People

Within these roles, both House Captains and Vice Captains collaborate closely with their respective Head of House, aiming to enhance the overall student experience here at Holmleigh Park. They achieve this by actively encouraging student participation in arts and sports, promoting student involvement and volunteering within the school and local communities, and seeking and listening to the student voice, ensuring that every individual feels appreciated and heard.

Sixth Form House Captains

In addition to our dedicated House Captains, we proudly introduce our team of Student Ambassadors. Amongst them, we have Equality and Diversity (E&D) Ambassadors as well as Charity Ambassadors. Our E&D Ambassadors collaborate closely with our designated E&D School Lead, striving to foster an environment where all students feel safe, valued, and embraced. As a school that values diversity, we recognise the importance of sharing and celebrating our diverse backgrounds and cultures.

Moreover, our Charity Ambassadors work alongside our Community School Lead to ensure that we actively contribute to our communities and make a positive impact in the world. Throughout the year, they organise charity initiatives and fundraising events, embodying our commitment to giving back and making a difference.
