A Further Update on COVID-19 Testing

Parents are requested to fill in the new consent form issued by the Department for Education

Dear all,

First of all, Happy New Year!

I am so sorry to be writing again, but since my last email, the Department for Education have FINALLY issued guidance for schools on how to carry out mass testing,.

This included a consent form which they require all schools to use. They had not given any indication that all schools would have to use this form until now, so most schools, like us, have created their own forms.

Unfortunately, parents will now need to fill in this form to give their consent for children aged under 16 to be tested. Children aged 16 or over should complete the form themselves. I would therefore be very grateful if you could click here and fill in the new consent form.

For more information on our testing programme, you can click here. I have also included at the bottom of this email an updated timetable of when each year group should come in for testing.

Again, I can only apologise that your time has been wasted by filling in two separate forms. We are doing everything we can to plan with limited information and it is incredibly frustrating.

Volunteering to Help

On a separate note, we are looking for volunteers to help with our serial testing programme which begins on Monday 18th January. As you may know, from the 18th, all students should be back in school. Our focus will shift from trying to test all students to testing students and staff who may have been a close contact of a positive case. As long as they test negative each day for five school days, they will be able to continue attending school.

At this point, our staff will be back in classrooms, so we are looking for volunteers who will be able to help with the testing process. Volunteers do not need any prior medical experience; full training will be provided, but will need to be available between 08:00 and 11:00, at least three days per week. You will also need to agree to be DBS checked (which the school will of course pay for).

If you would be interested, please email Mrs Harrison at [email protected] and we will send you some more information. We would be incredibly grateful to hear from you!

Best wishes,

Mr Farmbrough
