Letter From the Head - 8th May 2020

Today marks the 75th anniversary of the Allied Victory in Europe in World War II. It’s an incredibly powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifice of previous generations, and a welcome symbol of hope; we have endured hardship before, and this too shall past.

I shared a brief video message about VE Day with students this morning, and I wanted to share it here too:

I also wanted to give a couple of very brief updates on Google Classroom this week. I'm very grateful to everyone who filled in the survey last week. The question I was most interested in was around our new video curriculum, and we're thrilled to see that most of you think this has helped:

I'm hugely grateful to the staff who have put these together - both at HP and across our other Greenshaw Schools.

Of course - this doesn't mean everything is working perfectly, and several of you raised that that students don't always get feedback on the work they've submitted. We've been focusing on this since Monday, and I hope you've seen that. I wanted to draw your attention to two places your children can get additional feedback:

First of all, they can email our Helpdesks (click here for more details), and should get almost instant feedback at any time between 07:00 and 19:00 each day. I'd strongly encourage them to do so!

Second, it's always worth checking the class stream (the chat which appears in each class) - where our teachers are constantly giving feedback to the whole group, based on what we're seeing in the work that's being submitted.

I hope you have a very enjoyable bank holiday weekend.

Yours,

Mr Farmbrough
