Holmleigh Park High School

COVID-19 Update (2020-03-13)

Dear all,

I am sure you will be aware that coronavirus is continuing to spread in the UK.

I want to start by assuring you that we have been we are following all government advice closely, and are in daily contact with the Department for Education. A summary of this advice can be found here. At present, we have no imminent plans to close the school unless we are advised to do so by Public Health England.

If we do have to close, we have been working hard to minimise the impact on your children’s education, and I’m confident that we have a strong plan in place.

All students now have accounts on Google Classrooms, where they have been assigned into all their regular classes. In the event of a closure, we will use Google Classroom to stick as close to a normal school day as possible. Students will be expected to be logged on and working from 08:30-14:55 every day. They will follow their normal timetable – so if they would have been in a Maths lesson for period 1, they will be set Maths work which they will need to work on from 09:00-09:55 and submit online. Students will need a device to access Google Classroom to view their tasks. This could be a laptop or computer, or a tablet or phone with the Google Classroom app. Students will be expected to either complete work online, or to complete work on paper and upload a photo of it. We will send full details of this provision to all parents if we close.

Finally, I am very grateful for your continued support. The best way to assist us is by remaining vigilant, and following the NHS advice here. More specific advice on when to self-isolate, and how to do this effectively, can be found here

Finally, if you, or anyone at home, displays any symptoms of coronavirus, please do contact the school immediately.

Best wishes,

Mr Farmbrough

Headteacher
